TSA PreCheck Adds Two Airlines to Its Growing List

The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) recently announced that Caribbean Airlines and RED Air have joined its TSA PreCheck® program, bringing the total number of participating airlines to nearly 100. This addition enhances the ease of travel for passengers using these airlines, allowing eligible travelers to enjoy expedited security screening at more than 200 U.S. airports, as well as Lynden Pindling International Airport in Nassau, Bahamas.

TSA PreCheck is designed to provide a faster, more efficient security experience for low-risk travelers. It allows passengers to pass through security checkpoints without removing shoes, belts, light jackets, laptops, and 3-1-1 liquids. Most passengers using TSA PreCheck lanes experience wait times of less than 10 minutes, making it an increasingly popular option for frequent travelers.

How TSA PreCheck Works

Eligible passengers can benefit from TSA PreCheck when departing from a participating U.S. airport or when connecting to domestic flights after returning from an international destination. The program is available to U.S. citizens, nationals, and lawful permanent residents. Enrolling in TSA PreCheck is straightforward and can be done through one of three enrollment providers: CLEAR, IDEMIA, or Telos. The cost of enrollment varies depending on the provider chosen, and each offers its own set of additional benefits.

To enroll:

  1. Visit tsa.gov/precheck and select an enrollment provider.
  2. Complete the pre-enrollment application online in about five minutes.
  3. Schedule an in-person appointment for document verification, fingerprinting, and photo capture. The appointment takes about 10 minutes.

Once the application is approved, travelers receive a Known Traveler Number (KTN) that must be added to their flight reservation in order to access TSA PreCheck lanes. Most new applicants receive their KTN within three to five days of completing the enrollment process.

Benefits for TSA PreCheck Members

TSA PreCheck comes with several conveniences:

  • Faster security clearance: Dedicated lanes at over 200 U.S. airports.
  • No need to remove shoes, belts, or light jackets.
  • Skip removing laptops and 3-1-1 liquids from carry-on bags.

In addition, teenagers aged 13 to 17 can accompany their enrolled parent or guardian through TSA PreCheck lanes when traveling on the same reservation. Children under 12 are automatically allowed to pass through TSA PreCheck lanes with an enrolled parent or guardian, regardless of their ticketing information.

How to Renew TSA PreCheck

For those already enrolled in TSA PreCheck, renewing the membership is quick and easy. Travelers can choose an enrollment provider and renew online in just five minutes. Once renewed, members can continue enjoying TSA PreCheck privileges for another five years.

How to Identify TSA PreCheck Eligibility

Passengers using TSA PreCheck must have the TSA PreCheck indicator on their boarding pass to access the designated lanes at the airport. This indicator may appear as “TSA PRECHK” or “TSA Pre✓®” on the boarding pass. Without it, even enrolled travelers will be directed to standard security lanes.

Getting Help with TSA PreCheck

If travelers have questions or need assistance, they can reach out to the TSA through several channels:

  • AskTSA on X (formerly known as Twitter) or Facebook: Available from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. ET for live help.
  • Text assistance: Text questions to “275-872” (“AskTSA”).
  • TSA Contact Center: Call 866-289-9673 for assistance on weekdays from 8 a.m. to 11 p.m. ET and weekends/holidays from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. ET. Automated assistance is available 24/7.
