Bilt Is Cutting Its Hyatt Transfer Ratio: What It Means for Hyatt Fans

The bilt hyatt transfer ratio is set to fall from 1:1 to 4:3 on January 1, 2027. After that date, every 4 Bilt points you send to World of Hyatt become 3 Hyatt points instead of 4, while transfers made before the switch still move across at full value.

The cut was first reported by Frequent Miler, and it arrives right after Chase made a similar move on most of its cards. Bilt’s public site still shows its partners at 1:1 as of October 11, so today’s rate is the one you can lock in. Hyatt loyalists have a little under three months to decide what to do with their balances.

What changes with the bilt hyatt transfer ratio on January 1

Bilt currently converts points into World of Hyatt one for one. From the start of 2027, the reported rate becomes 4:3. That works out to 25% fewer Hyatt points for the same Bilt balance.

Seen from the award side, the hit feels bigger. Any Hyatt redemption paid with Bilt points will need a third more of them, because each 3,000 Hyatt points you want will cost 4,000 Bilt points rather than 3,000.

Full-value Hyatt transfers were one of the best reasons to collect Bilt points. Once this kicks in, that edge mostly disappears.

The 4:3 math on common Bilt balances

Bilt points transferredHyatt points today (1:1)Hyatt points from Jan. 1, 2027 (4:3)
4,0004,0003,000
20,00020,00015,000
40,00040,00030,000
100,000100,00075,000

Minimum transfer sizes are not part of the reported change. Members at Bilt’s Blue level have to move at least 2,000 points at a time, and Silver members and above can send as few as 1,000. Under the new bilt hyatt transfer ratio, that smallest transfer would land as 750 Hyatt points, so expect odd-looking balances if you top up an account for a specific night.

No carve-out for Palladium cardholders

Chase softened its own cut. Sapphire Reserve cardholders kept 1:1 transfers to Hyatt, while most other Chase cards dropped to 4:3 on October 1, 2026.

Bilt is not following that playbook, based on what has been reported. The new bilt hyatt transfer ratio is expected to cover every member, including people who carry the premium Palladium card. Bilt vs Chase for Hyatt transfers in 2027

  • Bilt, all cards: 1:1 through December 31, 2026, then 4:3 under the reported bilt hyatt transfer ratio.
  • Chase Sapphire Reserve: still 1:1.
  • Most other Chase cards: 4:3 since October 1, 2026.

Next year, the Sapphire Reserve becomes the cleanest way to turn a flexible currency into full-value Hyatt points. Whether that alone justifies keeping or adding a premium card depends on how much of your travel actually ends at a Hyatt.

Bilt’s other hotel partners do not close the gap neatly either. Accor already sits at 3:2, which hands you fewer partner points per Bilt point than Hyatt will at 4:3, while IHG, Marriott, Hilton and Wyndham remain 1:1.

What to do before the bilt hyatt transfer ratio drops

Move points for stays you can already picture. If a 2027 Hyatt trip is on the calendar and your Bilt balance covers it, moving points before the bilt hyatt transfer ratio changes on January 1 protects the old math. Hyatt transfers from Bilt typically post within about 10 minutes.

Avoid emptying your account on a hunch. Points that land in Hyatt can only be spent at Hyatt. Bilt has 25 transfer partners, and the airline side still converts at 1:1, so a balance left in Bilt keeps far more options open. Our guide to earning transferable credit card points explains why that flexibility is usually worth holding onto.

Watch for a sweetener. Nothing reported alongside the change mentions a Hyatt transfer bonus. If one shows up later, it would offset part of the 25% loss, but only for that promotion window.

Open questions Bilt has not answered

The Bilt homepage still describes partner transfers as 1:1, and the company’s own wording on the Hyatt cut was not available on its public pages when this was written. A few practical details remain unclear:

  • Whether a transfer started late on December 31 and completed on January 1 gets the old or new rate.
  • Whether any Bilt status tier will eventually earn a better Hyatt ratio.
  • Whether Bilt plans Hyatt transfer bonuses in 2027 to soften the hit.

Until Bilt publishes its own terms, plan around January 1 but leave a few days of margin.

Bilt to Hyatt transfer questions

How long does a Bilt to Hyatt transfer take?

Usually about 10 minutes. Leave a small buffer anyway if you are chasing award space that could vanish before the points arrive.

Is there a Bilt Hyatt transfer bonus right now?

No Hyatt transfer bonus has been reported alongside the ratio change. A future bonus would only offset the 4:3 rate for the length of that promotion.

What is the minimum Bilt to Hyatt transfer?

Blue members must transfer at least 2,000 points, and Silver members and above can transfer 1,000. After January 1, 2027, a 1,000-point transfer would add 750 Hyatt points.

Should you move Bilt points to Hyatt before January?

If you know where you will stay with Hyatt next year, transfer before January 1, because the same Bilt balance buys a third more Hyatt points now than it will under the new bilt hyatt transfer ratio. If your plans are still fuzzy, keep the points in Bilt, where airline partners remain 1:1 and nothing about them has been reported to change. Sapphire Reserve holders can simply route Hyatt stays through Chase instead. Three months of 1:1 is a deadline worth using, not a reason to dump your whole balance.
