Uniworld Super Ships Grow by 7 Vessels as the Fleet Heads to 22

Uniworld says its river fleet will be made up entirely of Uniworld super ships once the 2027 newcomers arrive, with three river vessels joining that year, a small expedition yacht added on the side, and three more river ships following in 2028. That would take Uniworld Boutique River Cruises to 22 ships, a plan CEO Ellen Bettridge laid out in an interview with Cruise Industry News.

If a European river trip is on your list for the next two years, this tells you which ships will be the newest when you sail and where the line is putting its money.

Which new Uniworld super ships arrive in 2027 and 2028

The build-out really began this year. The Emilie entered service in 2026 as the company’s first newbuild since 2020, and the rest of the plan stacks up behind her.

  • Audrey (2027): interiors drawn from Audrey Hepburn, part of what Bettridge called “cinematic glamour”.
  • Marlene (2027): a sister concept themed on Marlene Dietrich.
  • São Rafael (2027): a new ship for Portugal’s Douro, which ranks among Uniworld’s best-selling regions.
  • Aqua Blu (2027): an expedition yacht run with Aqua Expeditions, scheduled for only two departures to Indonesia and Singapore.
  • Helen (2028): slated for the Danube.
  • Clara (2028): slated for the Rhine.
  • Mekong Mystique (2028): headed for Southeast Asia.

Count them up and that is seven new vessels over two years: six river ships plus one yacht. The headline figure of three for 2027 refers to the river ships, since Aqua Blu is a separate expedition product rather than a new riverboat.

Aqua Blu is the oddity on this list. On the yacht, Bettridge said “these highly exclusive voyages will offer rare access to Indonesia and Singapore,” and with just two departures, space will be tight for anyone hoping to try it.

The pitch behind all of the Uniworld super ships is that no two look alike. Rather than a single standard design rolled out across the fleet, each vessel gets a theme tied to the places it visits, which is why the new pair carry the names of two film stars.

What else changes on Uniworld river cruises in 2027

New hulls are only part of the story. Uniworld also plans six new itineraries spread over Europe and Asia, though none of them has been named yet. Land packages before or after a sailing are being added for stays in places including Paris, Prague and Zurich, and the Women-Only Cruise, which debuted in 2025, comes back in 2027.

The shore program is shifting too. Uniworld says it is seeing strong growth among Gen X travelers, not just the Baby Boomers who have long filled river ships. In Bettridge’s words, “Gen X travelers often seek more active, hands-on experiences.” The answer has been more cycling, hiking, cooking classes and wine tastings offered next to the classic guided walking tours.

Families get attention as well. Sailings in the Generations Collection are timed to school holidays and are drawing strong interest, and themed departures built around wine, golf, music and Jewish heritage are growing in number.

Plenty is still missing. Uniworld has not yet announced launch months or fares. Other reports put each new ship at about 150 guests, with Audrey on Rhine and Moselle itineraries and Marlene on the Rhine and Danube. Until Uniworld publishes deck plans and schedules for the new Uniworld super ships, any claim about cabin sizes or inaugural dates is a guess. Should you wait for the new Uniworld super ships?

If you care most about having the newest ship and you are flexible on timing, keep an eye on the 2027 Douro departures on São Rafael and on Aqua Blu, which has only two dates to sell. If you already have a Danube or Rhine route you like, there is little reason to put the trip on hold, since the Helen and Clara do not arrive until 2028 and nothing about them has been priced. Uniworld super ships are worth watching, but a river you actually want to see should come before a hull you have only read about.
